Teachers and students of 4th Senior High School of Volos in Belgium

The 4th Senior High school of Volos takes part in an Erasmus+ program entitled "Young Entrepereneurs - Leraning by experience " together with schools from Portugal, Estonia, Latvia and Belgium. The fifth students' and teachers' visit  from schools of these countries took place in Machelen in Belgium from 21st to 29th of March. The previous visits had taken place in Latvia, Portugal, Estonia and of course in Volos last year.

seven teachers and twenty students fro the above countries travelled to Belgium where they were welcome by the teachers and students of Sint- Romboutscollege. The students were hosted by students of the belgian school while the teachers were accommodated in a hotel in Machelen. Preparations for the visit had started a long time ago by organising presentations and preparing assignments on the subject of young entrepreneurship, and by visiting local businesses.

On the first day at the Belgian school, after a welcome ceremony and break-the-ice activities, the students made short presentations of their schools and what had been done since the last visit in Estonia..

The weekend was devoted to sports activities and team games in the green Belgian countryside while the guests visited the Botanic gardens and nearby picturesque towns such as Brygge, Blankenberge and and Waterloo and  the museum of the famous battle.

The following days included a visit to Antwerp and to Brussels after the end of the project activities. The guests also visited the European Parliament where they were informed about the important role EuroParliament plays and how vital European citizens' vote is and also about the burning issue of Brexit and its consequences. Later the students visited the Old town of Brussels and they tasted the famous Belgian chocolates.

During the last two days, the students visited a local chocolate factory and a beer brewery. In the chocolate factory, the students experimented on creating different kinds of chocolated, tasted different flavours of chocolate and watched the complete process of makind Easter chocolate treaties. In the brewery, they were informed about the  essential ingredients of making beer, the herbs that can be added and the stages of brewing process till its consumption.

on the last day, a teachers' meeting was held in order to discuss the continuation of the project in future and how to enrich it  with further activities and new, innovative ideas which can be fulfilled by actively involving all relevant agencies, and how to integrate social minority groups in order to benefit them.

The students, thanks to this program, had the unique opportunity to come in touch with European students from the above countries, to exchange ideas about thei everyday school life, to compare situations, attitudes, and school environments enriching thus their experiences.

on the whole, teachers and students had the unique opportunity to get to know a different country which showed signs of tranquillity, a sense of safety and security, civilisation, with its citizens adopting environment-friendly means of transport, such as bicycles, in their everyday transportations, and all these new ideas enriched their experiences.

The next meeting between teachers will be held in Latvia, where the final evaluation of the project will take place as well as the dissemination of its results as the project is completed after two years of works.
